Introduction

More than 30 year experience in Textile Screen Printing, Industry, over the course of my career I have gained great experience working in different areas of the graphic industry; form screen printing to graphic design, illustration, high end color separations, I have direct and manage very important and productive manufacturing facilities both in Mexico and the U.S. Fluent in English and Spanish.

2015/2017 Spektrum Manufacturing / Borders Apparel MFG S. de R.L de C.V., Tijuana, Mexico
Production Director

 

Spektrum Manufacturing head quarters are located in Santa Ana CA, and owns and operate Borders Apparel Manufacturing situated in Tijuana B.C. Mexico, 15 minutes from the international border, all manufacturing is done in Mexico and exported to the USA immediately after to a distribution center.

Production

I was invited to work at Spektrum Manufacturing to increase productivity and re organized all areas as the plant had a lot of problems delivering on time and had to use some times other printers to fulfill their orders.I was able to increase productivity and quality in few weeks opening the door to new opportunities and large customers, being able to run the shop at it;s maximum capacity. Went from 3i00,000 pieces per month to 1,200,000, by bringing new trained personnel from other states in Mexico and training the local personnel. 

Art Department

Re-structured the Art Department by hiring and trained professional graphic designers, illustrators and color separators to supply the high demand of designs color separations and samples, integrated the use of high end image setters and created a state of the sample and R&D department.

Skiva Graphics head quarters are located in Vista, CA and the printing facility it's located in Tijuana B.C. Mexico at 20 minutes from the border it's a 100,000 sf facility production plant, with a 100,000 sf warehouse and it's own broker and 70,000 sf distribution  center at Otay Mesa USA.all manufacturing is done in Mexico and exported to the USA immediately after to a distribution center.  16 automatic presses, 6 automatic neck label presses, 4 14 color sample manual presses, 10 automatic folding machines.

Production

When I started the production output was 25,000 to 30,000 shirts per 12 hour shift totaling a production of 50,000 to 60,000 per day in two shifts cycle, after 3 weeks I was able to increase production to 60,000 shirts per shift totaling a 120,000 per day, went from a 1.6 million average shirts to 2.5 million per month. Immediately after improving the screen printing I manage the packing and shipping to be able to handle the new production output.

Hang Ten Mexico owns and operates 90 retail stores in all major states and cities across the country, it also distributes its brand in all major department stores and major chains.

In charge of screen printing department, art department, Cutting, Sewing, Embroidery, Finishing, Packing, Quality Control and State of the art Distribution Center.

Art Department

Production
In charge of coordinating production within 10 different Screen Printing facilities of vendors located in Los Angeles CA, Orange County CA, Santa Ana CA, Vista CA,San Diego CA, Tijuana Mexico and Ensenada Mexico.

My responsibilities included the technical aspects on the production departments art departments and color separations technicians to assure perfect quality and smooth production runs.

During the period I worked at ODM I was in charge of training all outsource printers production personnel including Ink Department, Screens Department, Production department as well as the sample department, to maintain quality at the highest levels possible. Textile Color Separations, Film Output, Screen printing consulting, Seminars, Hands on Screen Printing Courses , Hands on Color Separations Courses, Research and Development were some of the on site courses I was imparting to all of our vendors.

I was able to implement the production in all plants by applying the same production standards and procedures up to a point where we were able to print the same designs in different plants with amazing identical results. Something ODM was having difficulties to achieve for years.

Implemented the Sample Department by training the staff to achieve great results in all available techniques and specialty inks (required in this competitive market), producing high quality samples increasing our customer’s sales.

These improvements helped to reinforce the business relationship between Old Navy, Nike & Ecko Unlimited, making Industrias Desafio, their largest and most reliable full package supplier in Mexico and one of the biggest worldwide.

Assisted in the process that made Industrias Desafio the exclusive worldwide full package supplier for Ecko Unlimited with the purchase of Sweat Equity screen printing in New Jersey.

Production
Implemented from concept to completion the first plant in Guanajuato Mexico, supervised the construction project designing plant layouts, electrical, air and gas plans and installation, creating a unique printing facility.

Started the second plant in Lerma Mexico, developing all plant layouts and coordinating the entire project creating what was then one of the largest screen printing facilities in Latin America.

Trained personnel for both plants and implemented the production process bringing the plants to their highest productive levels.

Responsible for four shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 30 automatic printing presses, 20 Embroidery machines with a total of 400 heads, art department, packing department and 3,800,000 units average per month.
Full Package: brands including Old Navy, Nike, Starter, American Eagle and Levi's.

Art Department
Developed a sophisticated Art Department that went from hand drawing and hand color separations to computerized graphics creating first quality separations, outputted by a high end Image Setters. These changes helped increase productivity, end product quality and attracted many major sportswear and licensed brands.

Disney, Warner Bros. MGM, Pink Panther, Wild Gear, are just some of the licenses the company owned; the products were sold across the country in department stores and Avante Textil own private stores chain.
